The Christmas Funk

I must admit, I am having a case of the Christmas funk. It starts with having super high expectations of how everything will be fantastically magical, sparkly and perfect, and ends when things start turning a bit sour. Nothing is horrible, I am just in a funk. The last few years have been crumby Christmases, so I think maybe it is just part of getting older maybe? Seems like I know several adults in the Christmas funk and we enjoy lamenting together.

Anyway so both of our dogs are not doing so hot. Sarge (our youngest golden) has started having seizures. He has always been an easily excitable dog and so I am hoping they are just coming from him getting super amped up, but he is a bit old to be diagnosed with epilepsy so the vet has put him on medicine to treat him but also is having us look out for signs of a brain tumor. Having an 80 pound dog going into a seizure can be a bit hectic, dangerous and terrifying for toddlers so we are hoping this ends soon. For his sake and the kids. Anyway we started medicine yesterday so here is hoping he gets better!

Then Macy (our older golden) got sick with what I thought was a urinary tract infection. Tests have led us to believe that she may be having early signs of kidney disease. So we started medicine to help her out too. Blah, blah, blah. On a good note however, I do believe I have a fantastic vet and he even gave me his cell phone number in the event I needed him when they were closed. I am really thankful to have someone that is so helpful with our situation. I would just like everyone I like to be healthy and happy for the rest of my life so is that too much to ask?

Hope I did not damper your holiday cheer but I needed a break from all things merry and bright so today Court and I took a break and just took the kids to the park. I really enjoyed the few hours away from the big plans and whatnot, and just enjoyed hanging with the kids. Courtney may also be experiencing symptoms of the funk but a trip to Chick-Fil-A really lifted her spirits. She was a little bit overly excited about the free biscuit they gave her but I will forgive her for that embarrassment.

I had heard how great this park was but had never actually been there. Well I thought it was awesome. It is huge and had tons of things for the kids to do. It had a train theme to it and Allie loved that. She kept asking the other kids for their tickets to get on and then would shout, "all aboard!"

Is there anything cuter than a hoodie with animal ears? I just don't think so!

Allie gave me a super smile!

Court and Noley.

These kids were loving the swings.

You know how I know this is my kid? She is always trying to pull off her shoes and socks. I refused to wear shoes and socks for my first few years of life. It became quite a problem in kindergarten.

This kiddo was running everywhere.

There were these cool bells that sounded like a train. Allie and Mems thought they were so cool. They shared for about 10 seconds.

Out of my way sis!

There was a little boy who kept telling Allie he was 4 and three quarters years old who could climb up on this contraption and easily pedal his arms and legs so of course Allie wanted to too.

And she tried.....

and finally got there... sort of?

No matter how knee deep I get in the Christmas funk I get, this smile can quickly lead me back out!

Girl, you KNOW I have the Christmas funk! But that free biscuit from Chick fil A was just what I needed to pull me right out of it! HA! That was hilarious.
