Gobble Gobble

Grab some leftovers and settle in. Lots of pics!

Turkey Day was celebrated at my folks house this year. We ate well and laughed lots. Until the football game that is.

Pre holiday shot of Allie.

La's culinary contribution for the day.

Ro and Em. Em had a nasty virus last week that left her with a horrible rash on her face and legs. It is clearing up nicely but you will notice she still has some bumps on her face.

Gram and Pap sat and went through my dad's scrapbook from when he was little. My grandma kept asking me if I was scrapbooking for the girls and I reminded her that I was throwing random items that seem sort of important into a box in the closet. At least I did that for the first year of Allie's life so same thing right?

Gram and I.

Emmy has a bit of a shy personality and when she is surrounded by lots of people she feels safest being held close and putting her head on your chest. It is about the sweetest thing ever.

So my Dad said that he watched some youtube videos to see how to really carve a turkey. According to him this is just how Bobby Flay does it. Interesting thing was I never saw him use a knife. He just teared that meat right off with his hands. JUST like Bobby Flay.

Kyle was skeptical.

Zach, La, Linda.

Ems getting her first taste of fried turkey.

Loved it!

We discovered that Allie loves green beans. Or at least on this one day she did. She is a bit fickle.

Allie sang the prayer and did a great job. I thought she would chicken out in front of everyone but I was really proud. You can see my Dad clapping at the end. Then my Pap said a really sweet prayer that had some of us in tears. Very sweet indeed.

Chris really worked overtime to win Allie over. He ended up victorious.

Emmy was quite pleased with the days feast and even found room for an ice cream sandwich in the end,

Allie selected who would sit at the kids table with her and Emmy. She ended up with me, Jen and Ro.

After dinner we sat around and chatted and had more wine.

Grammie always drinks her red wine on ice!

Doug and Ro no longer do all the lights outside. Instead they buy a new inflatable to add to the lawn each year. It is a pretty big hit with the kids. Allie finally got up the courage this year to get close to the hoho.

She really loved the "two widdle Mickeys".

This is how Chris won over Allie. Lots and lots of chasing!

We also started the newest Guillot tradition which is our "Elf on the Shelf". We are off to a slow start but I am hoping Allie gets more into it in the next few days. More on that soon.

Happy Turkey Day all!

Warning: Do not place the Elf on light fixtures. We did that last year and we were sitting at dinner and smelled something burning. We looked up and the Elf was on fire. Now he has a big hole through his tummy!
